1. How do I book a course?
You can check our course dates and book online via our booking system, speak to us on Facebook, phone us on 07455 866886 or email email@example.com to find out about future course dates and availability.
Please note:- As places for courses are very limited a deposit or full payment is required at the time of booking.
Last minute bookings are welcome if there is availability on the day of course. You can book through our booking system or call our booking line for clarification on 07455 866886.
We also have a very highly responsive Facebook page where you can chat live to one of our booking advisors who will endeavour to answer your query at the soonest possible opportunity
2. How do I pay for my course?
Total accept the following means of payment:-
Website bookings, paypal, bank transfer, cash or credit card.
Call our booking line for assistance on 07455 866 886.
A 50% deposit of the course amount must be paid at booking stage and the remaining payment to be paid on the day of course or in full if you wish.
Finance payment plans can be arranged for our NVQ programmes so please do not hesitate to contact our team to discuss further.
3. What’s Total Hair and Beauty’s cancellation policy?
Deposits are non refundable.
If for any reason you cannot make your course date please get in touch 48 hours prior to the course date and we can refund you any monies minus deposit or put you on another course date. (This excludes external courses these such as Gelish, Caflon, Airbase Makeup are non refundable)
You have 48hrs before a course to rearrange if this needs to be done, if you are outside the 48hrs window or you do not turn up for your course your deposit will be lost.
If you are unable to attend your scheduled course due to unforeseen circumstances (and inform us in the 48 hour window) then a £25 rearrangement fee will apply as part of the academy's policy.
4. What should I wear?
Total Hair and Beauty’s Training Academy have a relaxed dress code.
Wear something comfortable, and if you are getting a tan wear something loose and dark.
Depending on the time of year, we suggest wearing layers so you have the option to remove or add clothing to feel comfortable during changing temperatures.
Total will not be held responsible for any damage to clothing or possessions caused during any of our training sessions.
5. What do I need to bring with me?
When you complete a training course here at Total Hair and Beauty Training Academy all you need to bring is ONE model.
A model can be from aged 14 upwards, however, anyone under the age of 16 will need written consent from a parent or a guardian before treatment.
Any model for intimate waxing must be over 18, and if needed I.D will be asked for
All courses require you to provide a model, with the exception of Hair Extensions.
For any nail courses please ensure that your model does not have any current extensions, polish, or gel, and that nails are bare and clean.
For lash courses, please ensure that no extensions are currently present and that if contact lenses are worn that on the day glasses are worn instead.
Models for tanning course must ensure that they do not wax or shave at least 24 hours prior to treatment. That they do not wear any make-up, deodorant, perfume, body oils or lotions as these may react with product and that they Wear loose, dark clothing, sandals or flip flops.
Please wear loose clothing after your tanning treatment and avoid pale colours, in case of staining.
If you are struggling to source a model for yourself please let us know 48 hours before your training course date so that we can help find you a model or re arrange your course date to a more suitable date. A model is essential for the practical session of your assessment.
6. What will my qualification enable me to do?
Total Hair and Beauty offer courses accredited by The Beauty Guild. These courses will equip you with the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to practice professionally within the Hair and Beauty sector.
You are required to gain your own working experience to enable you to become competent in your subject area and we encourage that you practice your skills to become the best you can be.
As your confidence grows through practice, so will the high standards in which your clients will expect from the services you provide.
7. What happens if I don’t pass the course?
If your trainer feels that you are unable to meet the course requirements you will be given feedback which may include home study and an additional session to help you meet the standards needed to pass the course.
There is no extra charge for this extra tuition or additional ongoing support.
Total Training Academy pride themselves on providing exceptional and highly skilled tutors to deliver our courses to the highest standard, they have the patience and ability required to teach learners on all levels.
8. What happens after I’ve completed my course?
On successful completion of your course you will be issued with a Beauty Guild Accredited Certificate and a course manual will be sent to you via EMAIL.
Course qualification certificates are issued within 4 weeks of the completion date. After you have completed your course, you can contact us directly for support at any time using our social media or email us: firstname.lastname@example.org
Our aftercare service is part of the experience and we have professionals who can provide ongoing support and advice should you need it.

10. What equipment and products do I need to do the training?
Total Hair and Beauty Training Academy provide the equipment and kits needed to pass the course. Unless stated all courses do not come with kits. Please check course description before booking.
Total accept no responsibility and have no control over individuals eligibility for trade cards. This is at the discretion of the supplier/wholesaler.
11. Where do I get insurance?
Our courses are accredited by The Beauty Guild which means that if you have passed with TOTAL you can gain insurance through them.
Total learners can save £10 off the joining fee by using your referral code of 10893.
However, Insurance options are covered during your training but The Beauty Guild are highly recommended by us.
12. Where can I park?
The closest all day car park is Brads Bar located behind the Garrick Pub adjacent to Total Training.
Travelling along Prince Regent Street (south from the Arc) heading towards the roundabout where the Music Lounge sits, turn left off Prince Regent Street, then sharp left again for long stay parking behind the pub (you will see the car park over to the right which is also the rear of Franks Flooring

13. Where do I buy my kits / stock from?
Once you have completed a course at Total, you can use your accredited certificate to get a Trade card in all Hair and Beauty Trade Suppliers directly

14. What happens if Total Academy cancels my course?
In the event that Total need to cancel your course for reasons beyond of our control, i.e. tutor sickness, power cut etc. Total Academy will endeavour to give learners at least 24 hours’ notice of any cancellation by telephone and/or email, and a full refund will be offered or an alternative date will be given.
15. What if I need a replacement certificate?
Total Training Academy can provide you with a replacement certificate for a charge of £10.00 per certificate payable at time of request.
16. FREE Retrain Policy
Total will train you free of charge for up to one year post course date if you feel you need extra practice or you have no fully gained the confidence you need to complete treatments you have learned.
17. Who are VTCT?
VTCT, Vocational Training Charitable Trust, is a Government-approved awarding organisation which has awarded world class qualifications since 1962 and has been at the forefront of developing the vocational system of qualifications in the United Kingdom ever since. Our full qualification package includes Hairdressing & Barbering, Beauty Therapy, Complementary Therapy, Sport, Active Health & Fitness, Hospitality, Business & Retail and Learning & Development.
VTCT is involved in many of the new initiatives being introduced into the education system, including the embedding of general education skills and online-assessment.
18. What is a professional register?
What is a Professional Registers?
The Professional Registers are four databases of beauty therapists, holistic therapists, nail technicians and therapy lecturers who hold the required qualifications and training to enable them to work in the professional beauty industry.

Register of Professional Holistic Therapists
Register of Professional Nail Technicians
Register of Professional Therapy Lecturers
Professionals who are listed on the registers have all agreed to abide by a strict code of ethics and maintain their knowledge, skills and commitment through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training and courses.
Why Do We Need The Professional Registers?
The Professional Registers help drive up standards across the professional beauty industry and give clients added confidence in the industry and the professionals who work in it. The Professional Registers can be accessed and searched by clients who want to be sure that they can find competent and ethical professionals. The Professional Registers give members of the public reassurance that they are dealing with people who are respected for their professional attitude and knowledge.
19. I need to leave early
Course times are not flexible. You are required to attend between the hours of 10.30 am - 4.30 pm, some courses may finish slightly earlier however if you need to leave for childcare reasons you will not meet the criteria to pass the course, and you will be asked to come back on another course date.
20. Do you offer Home Learning?
Total do offer home learning for one to one training.

22. How can I get FREE Courses?
We have funding available for our accredited courses but you must meet the criteria to be eligible.

23. What are CPD Points?
Many organisations, insist that staff complete a minimum number of CPD hours each year in order to maintain their professional qualifications. All Guild Accredited training courses are also certified for CPD purposes and each course is awarded the appropriate number of CPD points. Please check with your employer what the required number of points is for your position.
24. I have a voucher code

25. Do you offer payment plans?
This can be discussed by emailing email@example.com and explaining your circumstances, and how much you can afford per payment.
26. Can I bring my own food?
Total is based within the centre of Stockton-on- Tees, so there are many food places a stone throw away from the academy.
We have tea and coffee making facilities in house, and both a fridge and microwave.

27. Are you close to a train station?
The nearest train station to Total Academy is Thornaby Train Station. We are a short walk from the station, approximately 15 minutes.Directions can be found here
28. Can you really learn quality treatments in such a short space of time?
We provide you with the skills and Competency to complete your service in a safe manner, however it is up to you to then go away and practice the skills you learn to become a professional. Practice makes perfect.
Our wrap around care and retrain policy means that you can come back as many times as you wish free of charge, to enable you to get the maximum amount of support that you require to perfect your skills.
Our support does not stop at certification!
Acrylic nails require more practice than other courses, on average between 6 and 12 months to perfect your skills with practice.
29. Can I change to another course if I change my mind?
Once we have received a payment for your chosen course, we register you with the awarding body for that particular course. You can change the date but to change the course to another an admin fee of £25 will be incurred.
30. Do you charge VAT?
All of Total's courses are subject to a VAT charge. This will be calculated when adding the course to your basket. VAT No. 257 7142 88 Company Reg No. 09058693

32. What if I have special needs / requirments?
All of our courses are build to cater for all levels. Our teaching staff are all educated to change their learning styles to adapt to your individual needs.
Our courses are delivered in English if you cannot write or understand English you may not meet the course requirements. One to one with a translator can be arranged but you would need to provide the translator for the day.
One to one training may also be something for you to consider? Please note an additional cost will apply for training on a one to one basis.
